Clement Freud

Sad news about the death of Clement Freud. He was a one-off, he had a keen eye for the ridiculous and one of THE great raconteurs.

If you haven’t already, you should get your hands on any of the Just A Minute episodes he appeared in to enjoy his unique ability to light up¬†the airwaves¬†by, ironically, speaking quite slowly and with a ponderous wit.¬†His lugubrious style appeared quite possibly sardonic on occasions, but by no means so. He had a great line in pub gags.

For once, it’s actually true that we will never see his type again. And, when I think about it, that’s quite a painful thing to say.
